Princess admits to pushing RI maid
UNITED STATES: A Saudi princess will plead no contest to misdemeanor battery to settle a case that began with accusations that she pushed her Indonesian maid down a flight of stairs, officials said on Tuesday.
Princess Buniah al-Saud will enter a written plea, pay a US$1,000 fine and court costs and write a letter of acknowledgment to the court, prosecutor Mike Saunders told the Orlando Sentinel.
The 41-year-old niece of Saudi King Fahd won't have to appear in court.
Al-Saud was originally accused in December of pushing Ismiyati Suryono down 12 steps at their apartment. She was later accused of forcing Ismiyati to work without pay and stealing electronic equipment from her driver and selling it.
Ultimately, she was charged with attempted aggravated battery.
Al-Saud settled a civil lawsuit filed by Ismiyati and returned to Saudi Arabia in February with a judge's permission. Terms of the settlement were not released. --Dow Jones
