Prince wants Cirebon to have say
CIREBON, West Java: The prince of West Java's Cirebon
Kasepuhan Court, PRA Arief Natadiningrat, has warned against
sidelining gubernatorial candidates from Cirebon or the area may
break away from the province.
"If there are no representatives from Cirebon among the
candidates for the posts of West Java governor and vice governor,
Cirebon is likely to declare itself a separate province. But if
either of these positions include Cirebon candidates, this
separation will remain talk," he said in Cirebon on Thursday.
Arief told Antara that West Java had marginalized Cirebon
candidates for the post of governor, isolating the people of
Cirebon politically and culturally in favor of the people of
Bandung.
Registration for gubernatorial and vice gubernatorial
candidates will open on Feb. 17. --Antara
