Primary School Students in Gianyar Receive Free Uniforms on First Day of School Orientation
New state primary school students in Gianyar received free uniforms from the local regency government. The uniforms were distributed by the Gianyar Early Childhood Education Ambassador, Ida Ayu Ketut Surya Adnyani.
“This is the Gianyar Regency government’s commitment to supporting education, through the provision of free school uniforms for first-grade primary school students,” Dayu Surya said in a press statement on Monday.
Dayu Surya stressed that the comfort of students when starting school is a priority for the Gianyar Regency administration. In an effort to maintain the comfort of new students, schools will not administer reading, writing, and arithmetic tests for two weeks.
“The first days at school must be a pleasant experience so that children come to school with enthusiasm, feeling safe, comfortable, and accepted,” Surya Adnyani said.
During the two-week period, students are free to adapt and socialise with other students and teachers at the school. It is hoped that the children’s holistic foundational abilities will develop during this adaptation and socialisation. These abilities include religious and moral values, emotional maturity, social skills, motor skills, basic communication and literacy, as well as positive thinking and learning habits.
“This change is expected to create a more child-friendly transition process from early childhood education to primary school, support their overall growth and development, and reduce academic pressure at the beginning of their schooling,” Dayu Surya explained.
The acting head of the Gianyar Education Office, I Wayan Mawa, said the implementation of the 2026 School Orientation Period in all primary and junior high schools is being supervised in stages. SDN 3 Keramas and SDN 4 Abianbase were the first two schools visited and supervised. The supervision is carried out to foster good child development, which must be achieved in a pleasant atmosphere.
“The supervision aims to ensure the learning transition process takes place continuously, improve the understanding of school principals and early-grade teachers regarding child-centred learning, and strengthen the role of the Regency Early Childhood Education Ambassador as a driving force in overseeing early childhood growth and development,” Mawa said.
