Primary school in West Jakarta processes organic waste into eco-enzyme
Jakarta (ANTARA) - State Primary School (SDN) Sukabumi Selatan 07 in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, is processing waste into eco-enzyme as an educational activity to commemorate Earth Day 2026.
The head of SDN Sukabumi Selatan 07, Bekti Widiyaningsih, stated that the production of eco-enzyme is intended to reduce organic waste while providing education to students on environmentally friendly waste management.
“It is hoped that SDN Sukabumi Selatan 07 can become a model school that cares for the environment and encourage students to adopt a low-waste lifestyle,” said Bekti in Jakarta on Wednesday.
In addition, the waste management programme aligns with the school’s achievement of the independent Adiwiyata title.
“Through this activity, we want to instil environmental awareness in students from an early age,” Bekti emphasised.
To support the school’s efforts in processing organic waste, the Sukabumi Selatan sub-district office has provided simple composting bins to the school.
“This activity is an effort to reduce waste at the source while educating students so they can apply it at home,” said the Head of Sukabumi Selatan Sub-district, Anjas Umaryadi.
