Primary School in Megamendung, Bogor, Caught in Fire that Spreads to Local Houses

A fire struck a primary school building in the Cipayung Datar area, Megamendung District, Bogor Regency, West Java. The flames also spread to several houses belonging to local residents in the vicinity.

“The objects affected by the fire were SDN Pasir Angin 1 and residents’ houses,” said the Head of the Bogor Regency Fire Department, Yudi Santosa, on Saturday (3/10/2026).

He stated that the incident occurred at approximately 00:27 WIB in the early hours of the morning. Initially, a resident noticed flames already blazing within the school area.

“Due to the high population density and strong winds, the fire grew rapidly and spread to residential buildings around the scene,” he explained.

No casualties were reported in the fire. Yudi noted that the blaze destroyed several classrooms within the school area.

“There were four classrooms on the second floor that were burnt,” he added.

Residents subsequently reported the incident to the fire department. Officers immediately arrived at the location to carry out firefighting efforts and localise the area to prevent the fire from spreading further.

“The final situation saw the fire successfully extinguished. The team performed area isolation and intensive firefighting to prevent further spread, allowing the fire to be put out. The handling time was 3 hours and 8 minutes,” he concluded.
