Prices of New Year's Eve shows won't rise
JAKARTA (JP): The city administration will not increase the special ticket prices for the shows offered by entertainment centers on New Year's Eve 1995/1996 from last year's levels of between Rp 200,000 and Rp 750,000 (US$328).
An official of the city Public Order Office, Toha Reno, said the ticket prices asked last year were reasonable.
Toha said that the ticket price fixed by the administration for four and five-star hotels and the Jakarta Convention Center is Rp 750,000 per person. The price set for one, two and three- star hotels is Rp 500,000.
The entrance fee for shows at non-star hotels show is to remain fixed at Rp 250,000, while nightclub's will be permitted to charge no more or less than Rp 400,000. The entrance fee for discotheques will be Rp 250,000, while the entrance fee for restaurants, pubs, bars and coffee shops will be Rp 200,000. Movie theaters are to offer tickets at Rp 75,000 per movie.
Entertainment centers which are not offering special New Year's Eve shows cannot sell entrance tickets at the special prices prescribed by the administration, Toha said. "Their regular operation permits will still be from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. from Mondays to Fridays and from 7 p.m. until 3 a.m. on Saturdays and holidays," he added.
The New Year's Eve special packages require special permits, Toha said. "The show organizers must obtain permits from the City Tourism Office for the special packages. As many as 60 entertainment centers have applied for the special permits for the New Year's Eve shows," he said.
With the special permits, entertainment centers will be permitted to stay open longer than usual.
Toha said that 430 officials from his office will be deployed to monitor the operation of entertainment centers on New Year's Eve.
"Inspections will be carried out, while the shows are taking place, in which our officers will check the necessary documents," he said.
The shows provided by entertainment centers must be in accordance with the permits they have. "Employing foreign artists needs further permits," Toha said.
Entertainment centers which operate without the relevant permits will be closed down for three months, Toha said, while those which sell tickets at higher-than-permitted prices will be closed down for one month.
The officials will face the task of controlling more than 150 hotels, 138 discotheques, 317 bars, 215 billiard halls, 97 amusement centers, 195 live music centers and 317 movie theaters.
Last year nine entertainment centers were closed down and one received a warning for violating the regulations set by the administration for New Year's Eve.
According to data provided by the office, last year the city administration collected Rp 98.15 million ($43,000) in entertainment taxes on Christmas Eve and Rp 1.18 billion ($488,000) on New Year's Eve.(yns)
