Prices of Medical Equipment Surge at Pramuka Market, Gloves See the Most Significant Increase

JAKARTA - Medical equipment prices at Pramuka Market in East Jakarta have been rising over the past month. The most significant increase has been in gloves. “Yes, that’s right (everything has gone up). It’s been a month now, since the beginning of the month,” said one medical equipment trader at Pramuka Market, Wati (45), when met at the location on Thursday (14/5/2026). Oxygen tanks, usually sold for Rp 530,000, now cost Rp 550,000 to Rp 560,000. Meanwhile, the price increase for adult diapers is around Rp 5,000 for all sizes. Wheelchair prices have surged by about Rp 100,000. “Standard hospital wheelchairs, which used to cost us Rp 800,000, now cost Rp 925,000. We have no choice but to sell them for around Rp 1 million,” she added. Another trader named Yuli (25) also said that wheelchairs are one of the items in her shop that has seen a price increase. “Wheelchairs went from Rp 850,000 to Rp 900,000, that’s our cost price. When selling to the public, it’s around Rp 1 million,” said Yuli. In addition, masks have also increased in price; traders usually buy them for around Rp 13,000 per box, but now it’s Rp 16,000. Therefore, Yuli now sells masks for Rp 20,000 per box. Besides masks, gloves have seen the most significant price increase. “The rise in gloves is extraordinary. Nitrile gloves in particular have increased a lot, from a cost of Rp 40,000 to now Rp 65,000,” she explained.
