The government, through the Head of the Special Development Control and Investigation Agency (Bappissus) Aris Marsudiyanto, has reminded the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) to provide quality Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) menus. This is because the MBG index level has already been calculated mathematically, adjusted to the conditions on the ground. “So the current Free Nutritious Meals index has been calculated mathematically in a real way and implemented in the field with the existing prices,” said Aris in front of the Indonesian Association of Free Nutritious Meals Entrepreneurs and Managers (APPMBGI), quoted from Kompas.com, Saturday (25/4/2026). Aris emphasised that MBG is intended to improve the quality of the nation’s next generation and must not provide menus that do not comply with procedures. “Please convey this to all your colleagues, the SPPG entrepreneurs, of which there are around 22,000, so that we all share the responsibility to improve this nation as best as possible,” he explained. The cheating referred to involves providing menus that are far from good, resulting in around 1,700 SPPG having their operations temporarily suspended. For example, one whole chicken should be cut into 12 portions, but in the field, it is cut into 16-20 portions. Aris also reminded the entrepreneurs involved in MBG not to focus solely on profit. “I ask the gentlemen and ladies here, as entrepreneurs, please do not just think about profit, profit, profit, profit, and profit,” he stressed. The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana refused to standardise MBG menus across all SPPG. This is because standardising MBG menus would put pressure on high food ingredients and cause prices to soar. The BGN also wants to empower local resource potential up to the preferences of the local community receiving MBG benefits in processing healthy nutritious food.
