Price increase of train tickets

Price increase of train tickets

From Pikiran Rakyat

On March 12, my family and I bought railway tickets at the Bekasi, West Java railway station for Jatibarang. According to schedule, the transit Solo Balapan train would depart from Bekasi at 8.45 a.m.

I gave the ticket seller a Rp 20,000 banknote for three tickets of Rp 4,500 each. But I was surprised when the employee asked me for another Rp 7,000 because the price of the ticket had increased from Rp 4,500 to Rp 9,000.

After questioning the 100 percent rise, I was told the price had increased for the morning train, while the price for the evening train remained the same. As I had no choice, I paid the Rp 7,000. Passengers grumbled about the unfair increase which had been implemented for over one month.

It would be appreciated if the railway company could explain why the price of morning and evening train tickets are different.
