Preventing Stunting, BCA Provides Early Preeclampsia Detection Equipment Aid
JAKARTA - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), under the umbrella of Bakti BCA, supports stunting prevention by participating in preeclampsia awareness and early detection activities.
Preeclampsia is a pregnancy disorder that can increase the risk of premature birth and low birth weight. Both are risk factors for stunting in children.
BCA Director Antonius Widodo Mulyono explained that in this activity, Bakti BCA provided a package of early preeclampsia detection equipment to the Cisompet Community Health Centre in Garut, West Java. The device consists of an ultrasound machine, patient monitor, Android tablet, and the Cexup application, used by health workers to detect risks more quickly and accurately.
In addition, Bakti BCA, together with Bakti Medika Clinic, provided free Mini Medical Check-Up (MCU) services for participants, as part of efforts to promote broader early disease detection.
Widodo hopes this activity can detect risks early for pregnant women, one of which is preeclampsia. This aligns with government efforts to reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate (AKI), which remains high compared to other Southeast Asian countries.
“We are providing a set of early preeclampsia detection equipment; previously, we have also been active in supporting stunting prevention in recent years. Hopefully, what we do can reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate in Indonesia,” said Widodo in an official statement on Thursday (23/4/2026).
Widodo added that active collaboration from various parties is needed to achieve that target. In this regard, Widodo emphasised that BCA will always support the sustainability of maternal and child life in the long term.
BCA’s EVP of Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility, Hera F. Haryn, explained that this activity with the Ministry of Health is an embodiment of Bakti BCA’s efforts to support stunting prevention. Previously, BCA had first implemented the PASTI (Partner Akselerasi Penurunan Stunting di Indonesia) programme and the ‘Ayo Cegah Stunting’ programme.
Hera explained that BCA, together with philanthropic organisations and other private companies, also supports the Ministry of Population and Family Planning through the PASTI programme to accelerate the reduction of stunting rates in Indonesia.
This joint programme runs for four years, from 2023 to 2026, with a total donation of US$1 million. Through several programmes, 6,070 children under two years old (toddlers) have received nutritional interventions during the 2023-2025 period.
“Stunting prevention needs to start from upstream, starting from adolescents and family readiness, maternal health during pregnancy, to child growth and development. We hope that BCA’s initiatives can strengthen prevention efforts from early pregnancy while improving the readiness of health facilities in providing faster and more accurate responses,” Hera concluded.
