Every day, dozens of transactions take place at the BRILink agency owned by Agus Purwanto, a mobile phone stall located in Gintungan, Butuh, Tengaran, Semarang. Residents visit the shop for various needs, ranging from purchasing mobile credit and daily necessities to performing financial transactions.

Behind the counter, the owner, Agus Purwanto, serves each customer’s needs individually. The business, which originally focused on selling mobile credit and some basic groceries, has now expanded into a key service point for financial transactions within the local community.

“Initially, it was a mobile credit stall with some groceries, then it became a BRILink Agent. I was interested because many customers suggested opening BRILink services,” Agus said in an official statement on Tuesday (29/09/2026).

Agus shared that his journey as a BRILink Agent began in late 2019 after considering feedback from his customers. He recognised that the service would not only provide opportunities to expand his business but also address the residents’ need for more accessible financial transaction services.

“After becoming a BRILink Agent, the stall became busier because we could handle banking transactions and other needs. BRILink also helps many people by making transactions much easier,” he added.

Every day, Agus handles up to 50 transactions, with cash deposits and withdrawals being the most frequently used services. To accommodate the needs of the residents, the Agus Purwanto BRILink Agency operates daily from 06:00 to 22:00. These operating hours provide flexibility for customers to transact before or after their daily activities.

The presence of the BRILink Agent makes it easier for the community to access banking services without having to travel long distances. Over time, Agus’s role has evolved; he does not only facilitate transactions but also educates residents when they face the threat of fraudulent transactions.

According to Agus, the fraud methods experienced by residents are quite diverse. Some perpetrators pretend to be bank officials, while others claim a family member has been in an accident and request the victim to immediately transfer a large sum of money. In such situations, Agus endeavours to remind customers not to rush into transactions before verifying the truth of the information received.

“During my time as an agent, I have helped thwart several scams involving various modes of fraud. When such situations arise, I usually tell them directly not to be easily deceived and not to be provoked,” Agus remarked.

From a simple mobile credit stall, Agus’s business has grown into a BRILink Agency that is increasingly trusted by the community. In addition to increasing his business traffic, this role provides him with the opportunity to help citizens transact more safely.

In a separate statement, BRI Corporate Secretary Dhanny stated that the existence of BRILink Agents is part of BRI’s efforts to expand access to financial services across various regions.

“BRILink Agents not only bring financial services closer to the community but also create economic opportunities for agents and their surrounding environments. This collaboration is part of BRI’s efforts to expand financial inclusion while simultaneously driving broader community economic activity,” said Dhanny.
