The head of the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, Harlem Simanjuntak, has announced that stringent verification procedures are being implemented for the Jakarta Regional Government’s Free Mudik (homecoming) Programme 2026. The measure aims to prevent double registration and ensure quotas reach the intended beneficiaries—residents with Jakarta ID cards.

Registration opened online on 22 February 2026 through the official website mudikgratis.jakarta.go.id. However, participants must also complete a direct verification stage in addition to online registration. Officials will cross-reference data submitted online with original documents brought by participants.

Participants are required to bring original ID cards and family cards for verification. Those registering motorcycles for transport must also provide the vehicle registration certificate (STNK). Simanjuntak stressed that complete documentation is mandatory to issue travel tickets.

The verification process has been designed to maintain order and prevent irresponsible practices that could disadvantage other participants. Given the high public interest in the free mudik programme, oversight has been strengthened to ensure fair and transparent quota distribution.

Verification is being conducted according to clusters. The first cluster verification runs from 25-27 February 2026, the second from 28 February to 2 March 2026, and the third from 3-5 March 2026. Participants failing to attend their scheduled verification slot will be considered to have withdrawn, with their quota transferred to other applicants.

The East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency has opened a call centre on 0895-4032-66691 to help residents with registration procedures, verification schedules, and departure mechanisms. Simanjuntak urged all participants to comply with established rules, emphasising that administrative order is key to the programme’s smooth operation and safe, comfortable travel home for all participants.
