Pretrial Request by HSU Chief Prosecutor Rejected, HSU Intelligence Section Head's Not Accepted
The South Jakarta District Court (PN) has ruled on the pretrial application submitted by Albertinus Parlinggoman Napitupulu, Chief Prosecutor of Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU), and Asis Budianto, Head of the Intelligence Section at the HSU Prosecutor’s Office, at the beginning of March. Both are suspects in an alleged extortion case being processed by the KPK. According to the Sistem Informasi Penelusuran Perkara (SIPP) website of the South Jakarta PN, the single judge rejected Albertinus’s pretrial and stated that Asis’s pretrial could not be accepted. Albertinus challenged the seizure conducted by the KPK, while Asis contested the arrest process. “Ruling: On the merits of the case: Reject the applicant’s request in its entirety,” the judge stated in the verdict of case number 8/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL, quoted from the SIPP PN South Jakarta, Thursday (9/4). “Verdict: On the merits of the case: Declare the applicant’s pretrial request inadmissible,” reads the verdict of case number 10/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL. With this decision, the KPK is entitled to continue the investigation process. Several witnesses have already been examined. Most recently, on Wednesday (8/4), the KPK examined prosecutor Aganta Haris Saputra at the HSU Prosecutor’s Office to complete the investigation file related to the budget cuts carried out by the suspects and to delve deeper into other receipts by Albertinus. In addition to Albertinus and Asis, the KPK is also prosecuting Tri Taruna Fariadi, Head of the Civil and State Administration Section (Datun) at the HSU Prosecutor’s Office, as a suspect in the alleged extortion case. The suspects are charged with violating Article 12 letter e, Article 12 letter f of the Corruption Eradication Law (UU Tipikor) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 first of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 of the Criminal Code. In the ongoing investigation process, the KPK has searched the HSU Prosecutor’s Office, the official residence of HSU Chief Prosecutor Albertinus, and Albertinus’s private home in East Jakarta to find evidence related to the alleged extortion case being handled. The KPK seized several documents and Electronic Evidence (BBE) suspected to be related to the alleged criminal act of extortion or budget cuts in the HSU Prosecutor’s Office environment. During the search at the official residence of HSU Chief Prosecutor Albertinus, the KPK seized one vehicle registered to the Tolitoli District Government, Central Sulawesi.
