PRESiSI Survey: 74.2 Percent of East Lombok Residents Satisfied with Regent Haerul Warisin's Performance
The Indonesian Survey and Statistics Institute (PRESiSI) has released the results of a Public Satisfaction Survey regarding the first year of performance of the Regent of East Lombok, H. Haerul Warisin. The survey results show that 74.2 per cent of the East Lombok community expressed satisfaction with the local government’s performance during the Regent’s first year in office.
The survey was conducted between February and April 202 Segment 2026, involving 440 respondents distributed proportionally across 21 sub-districts in East Lombok Regency. Data collection was carried out through face-to-face interviews using a multi-stage random sampling method, with a significance level or margin of error of ±4.8 per cent at a 95 per cent confidence level.
Executive Director of PRESiSI Indonesia, Darwan Samurdja, explained that the 74.2 per cent satisfaction level indicates that the majority of the community perceives real progress in local government administration over the past year. “The 74.2 per cent figure falls into the satisfied category. This means the majority of residents assess that there has been tangible progress in the first year of Regent H. Haerul Warisin’s leadership. These results serve as an indicator that various development programmes and public services are beginning to benefit the community,” said Darwan on Wednesday, 8 July 2026.
Five Sectors with the Highest Satisfaction Levels
The survey results identified five sectors that received the best ratings from the public, acting as the primary drivers of high public satisfaction:
Population Administration Services – 79.1 per cent satisfied. Services such as the issuance of electronic ID cards (KTP), Family Cards, and Civil Registry Acts received the highest satisfaction. Residents noted that services are becoming faster, easier, and more responsive.
Health Services – 78.6 per cent satisfied. Services at community health centres (Puskesmas) and regional hospitals (RSUD) were rated as improving. Free health check-up programmes were also seen as providing tangible benefits.
Education – 67.3 per cent satisfied. The public appreciated the equitable distribution of School Operational Assistance (BOS), school renovations, and the local government’s attention to the education sector.
Women’s Empowerment – 65.7 per cent satisfied. Programmes for the protection of pregnant women, mothers, and infants, along with various women’s empowerment efforts, were deemed to be meeting community expectations.
Agriculture – 50.9 per cent satisfied. The distribution of subsidised fertiliser and agricultural extension activities were rated as performing reasonably well, although improvements are still required.
Evaluative Notes from the Community
In addition to recording high levels of public satisfaction, the PRESiSI survey also identified several sectors that received satisfaction levels below 50 per cent, which require government attention and rectification. These sectors include:
Employment, particularly the provision of information and access to job vacancies.
Marine and Fisheries, specifically assistance for fishermen and the development of aquaculture.
Cooperatives and MSMEs, particularly coaching for small business owners.
Tourism, specifically destination promotion and the provision of tourist facilities.
Social Affairs, particularly the accuracy of social assistance and the Family Hope Programme (PKH).
Environment, particularly waste management issues in urban areas.
Evaluation of Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD)
The survey also indicated that the performance of Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) is still perceived as not yet contributing optimally. The average public satisfaction level for BUMDs remains below 50 per cent. Specifically, PDAM (the regional water utility), which holds significant potential, was noted as needing to improve services and expand its customer base. The survey shows that 53.9 per cent of East Lombok residents are not yet PDAM customers. This situation presents both an opportunity and a challenge for PDAM to enhance services, expand clean water access, and contribute more significantly to Regional Original Income (PAD).
Findings Regarding the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Programme
PRESiSI also measured public perception of the National Strategic Programme, the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG). Approximately 61.8 per cent of the community stated that the programme helps alleviate the economic burden on families. However, residents also expressed several concerns, including: 37 per cent are worried about the quality of the food provided, and 35.9 per cent are concerned about potential corruption or budget cuts in food procurement. These findings suggest that while the community supports the continuity of the MBG programme, they expect strict supervision to ensure implementation is targeted and high-quality.
Distribution of BAZNAS Assistance
The survey also found that the distribution of business capital assistance, house renovation programmes, and grants channelled through BAZNAS East Lombok is still perceived by some members of the community as not being fully targeted. Therefore, there is a need to improve the validity of beneficiary data to ensure that assistance truly reaches those most in need.
Concluding his presentation, Darwan emphasised that the survey results serve as both evaluation material and constructive input for the East Lombok Regency Government. “All our findings, both those showing high satisfaction and sectors that require improvement, are expected to serve as evaluation material for the local government, particularly the Regent of East Lombok, in improving the quality of public services. On the other asides, Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) that have demonstrated good performance deserve appreciation to continue their achievements,” concluded Darwan.
