Presidium 08 to Report Saiful Mujani to Bareskrim

Jakarta (ANTARA) - General Chairman of Presidium Kebangsaan 08, H. Kurniawan, will report Saiful Mujani and Islah Bahrawi to Bareskrim Polri regarding allegations of incitement to overthrow the government.

“Insha’Allah, this Friday (10/4), I along with our legal team will visit Bareskrim at Police Headquarters to file an official report on the attempt to overthrow the power of Prabowo Subianto,” Kurniawan said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He stated that they are reporting the two because they are considered the most vocal in calling for the overthrow of the government.

“Brother Saiful Mujani and Islah Bahrawi, yes. They are the ones who are most persistent in voicing, inciting, and spreading hatred. Encouraging many people to take to the streets to overthrow the legitimate government,” he said.

He claimed to have attempted to open communication with Saiful Mujani and Islah Bahrawi to retract their statements and issue an apology, but received no response.

Due to the lack of response, Kurniawan and volunteers from DPP Rampas, Setia 08, Garda Raya 08, Garuda Astacita Nusantara, and Garuda Emas have chosen to pursue legal channels.

Kurniawan also said he has gathered several pieces of evidence to include in the report.

“We have tried, but it seems until today there is no good faith from the parties concerned, so we will take legal steps,” he said.

The basis for the report is Article 222 of Law No. 1 of 2023 (National Criminal Code) on rebellion against the state.

When asked about the prospects of restorative justice, Kurniawan said it is too early to discuss that.

“We haven’t even reported yet, how can we open restorative justice? We’ll deal with that later, it’s easy, we’ll monitor it,” Kurniawan said.

He also urged all Indonesians to remain calm, maintain a conducive situation, and not be influenced by the various issues circulating on social media.
