President's Eid al-Adha sacrificial cow in Pariaman purchased for Rp89 million

The President’s sacrificial cow for Eid al-Adha 1447 AH, intended for residents of Pariaman City in West Sumatra, weighing 883 kilograms, was purchased from a breeder in Pauh Timur Village for Rp89 million. ‘The breeder initially offered the cow for Rp90 million, but after negotiations by the Indonesian State Secretariat, the price was reduced to Rp89 million,’ said Marlina Sepa, Head of the Pariaman City Agriculture, Food, and Fisheries Department, on Tuesday. ‘Pariaman is one of the regions visited in West Sumatra,’ she added. She noted that the President’s sacrificial cow is a Bali Simental breed, which is scheduled to be slaughtered at Kampung Baru Mosque in Pariaman Tengah District on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. According to her, the central government’s purchase of the cow will motivate local breeders in Pariaman to raise and fatten their cattle. ‘For breeders, it is a source of pride that their cattle are purchased by the central government at a high price,’ she said. She added that, inspired by this, local cattle farmers in Pariaman are ready to meet the demands of other districts and cities whose cattle do not meet the required standards. In addition to breeders, mosque administrators and residents at the slaughter site are enthusiastic about the event and receiving meat from the sacrificial animal. She outlined the requirements for a sacrificial cow from the President: sufficient age, good health, and a minimum weight of 800 kilograms. She mentioned that Pariaman’s cattle population by the end of 2025 reached 2,657 head, comprising 1,250 males and 1,407 females.
