Presidential Staff Office Reveals Alleged Mark-Up in BGN Electric Motorcycle Procurement Worth IDR 1.03 Trillion
The Presidential Chief of Staff, Dudung Abdurachman, has revealed findings of suspected irregularities in the procurement of electric motorcycles worth IDR 1.03 trillion at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). The findings emerged after his office conducted a joint inspection with the Head of BGN, Nanik S. Deyang, into a project executed during the previous leadership period.
According to Dudung, the inspection results showed that a portion of the electric motorcycles whose budgets had been paid were still in the assembly stage until April 2026. “Now, this will potentially cause many problems later, because of the electric nature. The total is IDR 1.03 trillion. After checking, it turns out that as of 7 April, they are still being assembled,” Dudung said in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/6).
He highlighted an anomaly, as payment for the project had been made by the previous official while the ordered goods were not yet fully available. From the initial inspection, Dudung stated there were indications of a price discrepancy in the procurement pointing towards a suspected mark-up. “But this has been paid by the old official. And there is an estimated discrepancy of around IDR 200 billion. It would be different if the BPK calculated it at IDR 400 billion. Yes, there is a mark-up. Well, it’s easy, just proceed with the legal process quickly,” he said.
Dudung noted that the difference in figures still required further investigation. However, he hopes the legal process regarding these findings can proceed immediately so the matter does not drag on. Regarding the fate of the electric motorcycles already caught up in the procurement process, Dudung stated the government is still discussing options for their utilisation. One possibility being considered is redirecting the use of the motorcycles for other, more urgent needs.
“Yes, it has been paid, and these are already being assembled. The decision later is up to the Head of BGN, for instance if there is a decision from the President to divert them to something beneficial,” he said. Dudung also questioned the urgency of procuring electric motorcycles for employees of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG). According to him, SPPG employees receive sufficient income to own vehicles independently.
“After all, the salary for SPPG staff is decent, around six million. If they pay instalments for one motorcycle, it’s enough. It’s not really necessary, in my opinion,” he added. This finding adds to the list of evaluations of programmes and goods procurement within the BGN, which is now under government scrutiny. The suspected mark-up in a project worth over IDR 1 trillion could potentially become the subject of further investigation by law enforcement officials and state financial oversight bodies.
