Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chief of Staff to the Presidency, General TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurability, has expressed the government’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity and governance of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Programme, specifically protecting it from those seeking personal profit or rent-seekers.

According to a statement from the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) received in Jakarta on Monday, the KSP, alongside the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Ministry of PAN-RB, and the National Strategy for Corruption Prevention Team (Stranas PK), will continue to strengthen coordination with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to bolster anti-corruption prevention.

“President Prabowo Subianto has made a firm decision to cleanse the MBG programme of rent-seekers without exception. The President will not tolerate any deviations in the MBG programme, which serves as an investment in the nation’s human resources,” stated Chief of Presidential Staff Dudung.

He explained that this strategic step is being taken to ensure that this national priority programme operates cleanly, transparently, and reaches its intended targets without interference from parties seeking private gain.

The meeting between members of the National Corruption Prevention Team specifically addressed improving the governance ecosystem of the MBG Programme from upstream to downstream.

Dudung noted that as a priority programme of the President that directly impacts the lives of millions of Indonesians, the scale of the MBG implementation is massive. By June 2026, the programme is set to operate through more than 29,000 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units, reaching over 63 million beneficiaries, including school children, toddlers, and pregnant and breastfeeding mothers across the country.

Given the immense scale of the programme, the KSP acknowledged significant implementation challenges and risks. In response, the Chief of Staff stated that President Prabowo Subianto has taken decisive action to conduct a thorough cleansing of the system.

Dudung also made a special note regarding recent dynamics within the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). He urged that recent events serve as a turning point for evaluation and performance improvement for all field implementers.

“The events of a few days ago at the BGN should serve as a momentum for all implementers to work earnestly and with full dedication, especially in carrying out the mandate of this Presidential priority programme. Let us collectively oversee this programme,” concluded the Chief of Staff.
