Presidential Staff Office and Saudi Ambassador Discuss Investment Cooperation and Improvement of Hajj Services
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The meeting, held at the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/5/2026), marks a concrete step in strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. Amidst the dynamics of the global economy, the Chairman of the Indonesian Employment Exchange Association (ABKI), Drs. Habib Mohsein Saleh Badegel, S.H., M.Sc., facilitated a meeting between the Chief of Presidential Staff, General TNI (ret.) Prof. Dr. Dudung Abdurachman, and the Saudi Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Faisal Bin Abdullah H Amodi.
The main focus of this meeting was to execute major investment commitments and address fundamental improvements in the services provided to Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. The Saudi Arabian government reaffirmed its commitment to invest more than $40 billion in Indonesia.
This figure is directed towards priority sectors for national development, particularly renewable energy, environmental sustainability, and other strategic projects. This massive investment is part of an effort to diversify the economies of both countries in a mutually beneficial way in the long term.
For Indonesia, this partnership is considered a significant support for national economic resilience. Meanwhile, for Saudi Arabia, Indonesia is seen as a key partner in the Saudi Vision 2030 roadmap. Habib Mohsein Saleh Badegel emphasised the importance of overseeing this collaboration to ensure it has a direct impact on strengthening the economy and creating quality jobs.
“The relationship between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia is not only a diplomatic relationship between countries, but also a fraternal relationship that has historical and strategic value for both nations. Therefore, broader synergy and collaboration need to be continuously strengthened,” said Habib Mohsein Saleh Badegel in a written statement received by Republika.
Another crucial point in the discussion was the plan to build an Indonesian Hajj Village in Mecca. This project is said to be a direct initiative from the President of the Republic of Indonesia to provide a permanent solution to the accommodation and service management challenges faced by Indonesian pilgrims in the Holy Land.
