Presidential Staff Chief Reveals Free Health Check Results: 6.3% of Children Experience Depression
Jakarta — The Presidential Staff Chief (KSP), Muhammad Qodari, announced that 70 million people have participated in the free health check programme (CKG). The results revealed that school-age children are experiencing significant health challenges, including mental health issues.
“Within this age group (school-age children), health problems are primarily driven by lifestyle and basic hygiene practices, with 60.7% lacking physical fitness, 47.2% suffering from tooth decay or tartar, 27.5% experiencing anaemia. And notably, 6.3% are experiencing mental health issues or depression,” Qodari stated during a press conference at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2025.
For adult age groups, Qodari continued, the most significant health problems stem from a crisis of physical inactivity, ranging from high cholesterol to hypertension. “High cardiovascular and metabolic risk, with 44% at risk of stroke due to cholesterol problems. 31% have waist circumference exceeding normal limits and 18.1% suffer from hypertension or high blood pressure,” he explained.
Qodari also highlighted a specific finding affecting adult women, with 24.8% experiencing anaemia.
The free health check programme is targeted to reach 200 million people during 2025–2026. By March 2026, 13.8 million people had already registered. “From January to February 2026, the CKG programme served 10,563,593 participants across 9,543 health centres spread throughout 514 districts and cities. Of this total, 714,808 participants, approximately 8.6%, have received treatment. More than 7.5 million other participants remain in the follow-up process by the Ministry of Health,” Qodari concluded.
