Presidential Palace Yet to Receive Name of New Jampidsus to Replace Febrie
The Presidential Palace has not yet received the name of a candidate for the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) following the resignation of Febrie Adriansyah. Febrie stepped down from his position on Saturday, 11 July 2026, just hours before his name was announced as a corruption suspect by the police.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that President Prabowo Subianto is currently waiting for a replacement name from the Attorney General’s Office. “The mechanism is that the position is appointed and determined by the President through a presidential decree based on a recommendation from the Attorney General,” Prasetyo told reporters on Monday, 13 July 2026. The Gerindra Party politician added that the Palace has not yet received the candidate’s name from Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin. “As of today, we have not received the recommendation,” he said.
Prasetyo also clarified that Febrie Adriansyah’s resignation does not need to be formalised through a presidential decree, unlike his appointment. He noted that the resignation is personal in nature.
The corruption case involving Febrie is now being handled by the Attorney General’s Office. The police, who initially named him a suspect, have transferred the investigation into alleged corruption at PT Asabri, PT Krakatau Steel, and a coal supply scandal that caused power outages in Sumatra. Besides Febrie, a lawyer named Don Ritto has also been named a suspect and is being detained by the police.
Acting Jampidsus Rudi Margono stated that his office will soon examine Febrie Adriansyah following the transfer of the case. “It will begin soon,” Rudi said after a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Saturday, 11 July 2026. He added that his team is still waiting for the transfer of evidence and investigation results from the police.
