The Presidential Palace is targeting the completion of improvements to the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme within the next month. The government is currently reorganising the implementation of President Prabowo Subianto’s flagship project. “Our initial target is for this to be completed within one month. But of course, there will be dynamics,” said State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi following a limited coordination meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Food’s office on Thursday, 11 June 2026. Prasetyo urged the National Nutrition Agency, as the manager of the MBG project, to continue providing the best service during the restructuring process. According to him, the governance improvements include inspecting nutritional fulfilment service units (SPPG) that do not comply with standard operating procedures (SOP). Prasetyo stated that the existing notes for improvement must be heeded and implemented. “Those that are already good must also be supervised so that their quality is maintained,” said the Gerindra Party politician. Besides addressing kitchens that do not meet standards, the reorganisation of MBG implementation is also targeting an excessive number of kitchen locations. According to Prasetyo, this restructuring measure could lead to the closure of some SPPGs. “But we cannot say today whether they will be closed or not. They are being reorganised, so we are looking at them, taking inventory of their conditions. We also cannot immediately draw conclusions solely by referring to the numbers,” Prasetyo stated. On that occasion, Prasetyo also emphasised that the affiliation of an SPPG cannot be linked to the governance of MBG implementation. The former member of the House of Representatives said that anyone has the right to own an SPPG, provided the kitchen’s operations comply with the rules established by the National Nutrition Agency. “Including if, pardon me, certain names of SPPG owners are mentioned. Basically, it is not about who the owner is, but more to the point that what is not allowed is violating the established rules of the game or violating the established SOPs,” Prasetyo said.
