Jakarta – The Presidential Palace will serve as the centre of a state-level Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

As part of this agenda, President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka are scheduled to pay zakat as part of a series of activities also intended to encourage the public to strengthen social responsibility during Ramadan.

This year’s commemoration adopts the theme “The Qur’an, Ecological Stewardship, and the Path to World Peace.” This theme was chosen to affirm that the Qur’an’s message relates not only to spiritual matters but also addresses global issues facing humanity today.

Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar stated that Qur’anic values are highly relevant in addressing environmental issues and efforts to build world peace.

“The Qur’an speaks not only of the relationship between humans and God, but also of the relationship between humans and nature and one another. Therefore, the message of ecological stewardship and world peace is of paramount importance to us,” the Minister of Religion said in a written statement on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

He emphasised that the state-level Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration is not merely a ceremonial event. The government also wants to ensure that this religious message is realised in concrete actions with impact for society.

As part of the activities, the Ministry of Religion will also distribute assistance to 30 orphans as a way of reinforcing the values of social responsibility taught in the Qur’an.

“This commemoration is not merely a ceremony, but also a reminder that the Qur’an’s message must be translated into concrete action—caring for the earth, building solidarity, and bringing peace,” he stressed.

The Director General of Islamic Community Guidance Abu Rokhmad explained that the series of events will commence at 14:00 WIB with zakat payment by state leaders at the Presidential Palace.

He noted that this step is expected to serve as an example to the public whilst also encouraging public participation in fulfilling zakat obligations.

“Starting at 14:00 WIB at the Palace. Well, in other locations, provincial governments throughout Indonesia will also carry out the same activities. So this is a way to encourage the public to pay zakat through the example set by their respective regional leaders,” Abu Rokhmad said.
