Presidential Palace Confirms Prabowo Will Pay Respects to Former Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu Before Leading Pancasila Birth Anniversary Ceremony

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to pay his final respects to former Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu before leading the Pancasila Birth Anniversary ceremony on Monday, 1 June 2026.

The presence of President Prabowo at Ryamizard’s funeral and memorial service at the Ministry of Defence (MoD) office in Central Jakarta was confirmed by State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.

“Insha’Allah, that is the plan,” Prasetyo stated when confirmed on Monday, 1 June 2026.

The President’s visit was also anticipated as the Presidential Secretariat team had been on standby at the MoD premises since morning.

Ryamizard’s coffin arrived at the MoD at 7:35 WIB via a TNI General Headquarters hearse, accompanied by family members during the final journey of the former Army Chief of Staff to the memorial site.

President Prabowo’s presence during the tribute ceremony symbolises the nation’s respect for a figure who dedicated decades to service as a soldier and state official.

Ryamizard was a prominent military figure who led the Ministry of Defence from 2014 to 2019.

Following the memorial service at the MoD, Ryamizard’s remains will be interred in a military funeral at Kalibata Heroes’ Cemetery in South Jakarta.

Defence Information Bureau Chief Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait stated that the military funeral ceremony will take place at 11:00 WIB as the highest form of national tribute.

“Buried with military honours at Kalibata Heroes’ Cemetery as a national tribute to a soldier and statesman who dedicated his life to Indonesia,” Rico said in a written statement on Sunday, 31 May.

According to Rico, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin will personally lead the funeral ceremony.
