Presidential Palace Comments on Cabinet Merah Putih Reshuffle Rumours

The issue of a reshuffle in the Merah Putih Cabinet is once again being discussed. The Palace has chosen to be sparing with words and has thrown out a mysterious signal regarding the possible political move by President Prabowo Subianto.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya did not give a straightforward answer when asked about the timing of the reshuffle. He only gave a brief response that instead thickens public speculation.

“Just wait,” said Teddy to reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.

When pressed further about the certainty of when the reshuffle would be carried out, Teddy reiterated that the decision is entirely in the hands of the President. He did not open up in detail and chose to keep the information tightly under wraps.

“Later, the President will tell the story,” he said.

Previously, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated that there were no plans for a cabinet reshuffle in the near future.

He emphasised that reports of a reshuffle, especially those linked to ministers said to be loyalists of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, were untrue.

“Not yet, not yet (reshuffle),” said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 3 February 2026.

Amid the confusion, the issue of ministerial position shifts also involves the name Pratikno as the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK). He is reported to be affected by the cabinet reshuffle and is even said to have submitted a resignation.

However, Pratikno firmly denied the rumour and assured that he is continuing his duties as usual.

“No, no,” said Pratikno briefly after attending the 100th anniversary of Nahdlatul Ulama at Istora Senayan.

He also emphasised that he has never submitted a resignation letter to the President.

“No, no,” Pratikno replied.

Even though denials have been issued, the intensity of the reshuffle rumours indicates ongoing political dynamics within the cabinet.
