Jakarta — The government has formally urged all state institutions to refrain from holding excessive open house and halal bihalal celebrations during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2025 festivities.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, speaking at the Defence Ministry building in Jakarta on Tuesday, stated that this measure was taken as a gesture of empathy towards citizens still facing difficult economic circumstances.

“We have issued a circular to all ministries and agencies urging them not to be excessive in organising open house events and halal bihalal,” he said.

Prasetyo indicated that the circular, directed at all ministries and state agencies, represents a direct instruction from President Prabowo Subianto.

Prasetyo emphasised that this year’s celebrations must be accompanied by restraint and simplicity.

He reminded state officials to remain sensitive to the social situation, given that many citizens continue to face challenging conditions.

“Regardless, many of our compatriots remain in difficult circumstances. So we urge restraint and moderation,” he said.

When asked about plans for an open house at the Presidential Palace, Prasetyo did not provide a definitive answer.

He stated that confirmation regarding that agenda remained pending further developments in the situation.
