Presidential election as momentum

From Koran Tempo

The last state address of President Megawati Soekarnoputri on
Aug. 16 before the upcoming runoff election has special
significance, particularly because it explained to the people as
well as future leaders, what the present Cabinet had done.

Changes in national leadership in the country have never been
smooth. Consequently, everything has had to start all over again.
In fact, the development of a nation should be sustainable to
ensure uninterrupted advancement.

After 59 years of independence, we should now avoid such
unnecessary repetition and start something new to make further
advancement, instead of beginning from zero again and again.

The present presidential election is the right moment for
this. The incumbent president has laid down the basis of
understanding proper statehood. She expects the next president to
perform his or her state duties to bring further progress to the
nation.
