Presidential Decree on New Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Expected This Week

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has confirmed that the presidential decree regarding the appointment of a new Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) will be finalised soon. The official will replace Febrie Adriansyah, who resigned on Saturday, 11 July 2026, just hours before being named a corruption suspect by the police.

Prasetyo stated that President Prabowo Subianto would sign the decree within one to two days. “We can confirm that the letter from the Attorney General has been processed according to the mechanism through the Final Assessment Team (TPA),” Prasetyo said at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday, 20 July 2026. “The process is now in its final stages and will be completed in the next few days.”

Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin previously sent a letter to President Prabowo proposing several names for high-ranking positions within the Attorney General’s Office. Among the proposals, Burhanuddin suggested the current Head of the Asset Recovery Agency, Kuntadi, to become the new Jampidsus, replacing Febrie Adriansyah.

The letter, dated 13 July 2026, also proposed Asep Nana Mulyana, the current Junior Attorney General for General Crimes (Jampidum) and acting Deputy Attorney General, to be appointed as the definitive Deputy Attorney General. Additionally, Burhanuddin proposed Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak, the current Head of the Education and Training Agency, to fill the position of Jampidum. To replace Leonard, the Attorney General proposed Harli Siregar, currently an Inspector III within the Junior Attorney General for Supervision.
