Presidential Chief of Staff reviews school revitalisation in Central Jakarta, ensures smooth progress
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Presidential Chief of Staff, General TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman, inspected the results of the School Revitalisation Programme at SMP Muhammadiyah 16 in Central Jakarta, ensuring that the implementation of the President’s priority programme is proceeding well.
“Many may not know, this is the President’s school revitalisation initiative. So, starting from 2025, 16,167 schools have already been built, meaning a total revitalisation with Rp1.2 billion, and this budget is directly handed over to the school principals,” said Dudung during the inspection in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He explained that the allocated budget is then managed by the schools themselves for repairing existing facilities, under the supervision of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
The government itself targets revitalising 71,744 schools this year with a budget of Rp14 trillion.
“The budget from the President comes from efficiency measures. Then from the seizure of assets from corrupt individuals, which ultimately benefits our schoolchildren,” explained the head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP).
The revitalisation will not only cover public schools and madrasahs under government management but also private ones.
Some targets for improvements in construction include classrooms and staff rooms, prayer rooms, laboratories, sanitation facilities, sports fields, and water networks.
For madrasahs, a revitalisation target of 9,000 madrasahs is set for 2026.
On that occasion, School Principal Lidya Mulyani expressed appreciation to the government, especially President Prabowo, for the revitalisation carried out, as well as for the interactive digital boards to support teaching and learning activities.
The school revitalisation itself begins in September 2025 and is completed in December 2026. Repairs to school facilities include not only classrooms and staff rooms but also laboratories, libraries, and sanitation facilities.
