Presidential candidate criteria
Presidential candidate criteria
From Merdeka
I would like to discuss the criteria for a presidential candidate. According to the media there are nine requirements:
1. Must be a patriot who is faithful and devoted to God;
2. Must have insight into nationhood and the ability to unite the nation;
3. Must be a wise statesman;
4. Must be able to make a decision in a difficult situation;
5. Must have proven integrity and dedication to the nation;
6. Must be acceptable to the people;
7. Must be a New Order proponent with a proven record of ability to implement the New Order ideals;
8. Must be a champion of sustainable national development;
9. Must be recognized by the Indonesian society and the international world.
I am strongly convinced that if the future president meets these requirements, the ideal of a just and prosperous society will become reality, not merely a slogan or a dream. May the people's representatives, especially from the functional group Golkar, which constitutes the single majority in the election of the national leader, not be obsequious in their choice because the people's fate hangs in the balance.
The country's development is indeed a "success." However, national development is not only about material aspects, but about spiritual factors as well. Spiritual factors like character building are well below the public's expectations, and continue to drop, getting even farther away from the noble values of our ancestors. Collusion, corruption, illegal levies and manipulation are on the rise.
