Presidential Advisory Council Member Anwar Usman Asserts Commitment to Constitutional Mandate
I do not want to intervene, and I do not want to be intervened by anyone. That is the essence of it.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of the Presidential Advisory Council, Anwar Usman, is committed to carrying out his new duties in accordance with the mandate of Article 114 of the 1945 Constitution after being officially inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto.
Anwar explained to journalists at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Friday that his obligation as a member of the advisory council is to provide advice and considerations to the Head of State based on applicable constitutional regulations.
“I am in accordance with the mandate of Article 114 of the 1945 Constitution. That is my only duty,” said Anwar.
“I do not want to intervene, and I do not want to be intervened by anyone. That is the essence of it,” he added.
Anwar assessed that providing views regarding matters in the Constitutional Court, even while holding the status of a former judge, could be categorised as a form of indirect intervention.
He also dismissed assumptions regarding any political communication or special consultation with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is his nephew, leading up to and during the inauguration process.
Anwar stated that he is ready to begin working at the Presidential Advisory Council building and to carry out his duties intensively starting next week.
“God willing, I will carry out my duties with the intention of worshipping Allah, and serving the nation and the state,” said Anwar.
