Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto expressed Indonesia’s strong commitment to creating an open investment climate for businesspeople, particularly from Japan, and encouraged investors to report any problems they encounter.

Attending the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday, President Prabowo invited Japanese businesspeople to directly report various obstacles faced during investment in Indonesia to him.

“If you have any problems, you can complain directly to me. You can complain to me directly, through your ambassador, through your representatives, through MITI or JETRO or whatever, Keidanren. I am willing to receive complaints,” said Prabowo as per a statement from the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom).

On that occasion, he stated that he adopts a proactive leadership approach and gets directly involved in resolving issues on the ground. He described the role of a modern president as akin to a CEO of a country who must respond to problems quickly and accurately.

To strengthen this response, the government has formed a special task force (satgas) dedicated to removing investment barriers or the de-bottlenecking task force.

This task force is tasked with handling various issues, such as administrative delays to practices that harm investors.

“Any company in Indonesia, whether foreign or domestic, that feels it is facing delays, administrative barriers, and so on, or is experiencing exploitation or improper treatment, can directly contact this barrier removal task force,” he said.

Furthermore, Prabowo stated that the Indonesian government is committed to deregulation and simplifying various rules deemed to hinder investment.

These steps are taken alongside efforts to accelerate national economic growth amid increasingly tight global competition.

“We are striving to deregulate, to eliminate regulations that are sometimes irrational. This is not easy, but we are determined to simplify the process,” said Prabowo.

On that occasion, the President also invited business actors from the Land of the Rising Sun to strengthen strategic partnerships with Indonesia through the integration of Japan’s technological strengths and experience with Indonesia’s resources and market potential.

“I believe that we must work together. We have worked together. Enhancing the Indonesia-Japan economic partnership agreement will open new opportunities. This is the right time to deepen our cooperation. We are ready and want to move forward,” said Prabowo.
