President to open haj hospital

President Soeharto is scheduled to inaugurate a new haj hospital in Pondok Gede, East Jakarta, on Nov. 12, Governor Surjadi Soedirdja said yesterday.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the President, Surjadi said that inauguration of the hospital will coincide with the commemoration of National Health Day.

The governor said that the construction of the hospital is already completed.

New equipment and other facilities are currently being brought to the new hospital, he said, adding that the soft opening is expected to be held on Saturday.

"At the inauguration ceremony the President will launch the nation-wide operation of health cards that have been tried on the residents of Seribu Island chains," Surjadi said.

He said that the President will also declare Friday as the designated day of cleanliness. (hhr)
