President to mark Women's Day

JAKARTA: President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady
Kristiani Herawati will attend the commemoration of National
Women's Day at the National Monument here on Sunday.

State Minister for Women's Empowerment Meutia Hatta said on
Tuesday the President would help spread information about the
domestic violence law and about women's rights in the family.

"Only by getting this information out can we prevent domestic
violence and other situations that can lead to violence in the
family," Meutia said after meeting with the President.

During the commemoration, the President will release 5,000
pigeons as a symbol of peace. -- JP
