President to Hold Limited Meeting to Discuss People's Housing Issues
President Prabowo Subianto has summoned several members of the Merah Putih Cabinet and executives from state-owned enterprises to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, 6 April 2026. Among the officials already present at the Palace are the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas, Maruarar Sirait; the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto; the President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), Bobby Rasyidin; and the President Director of PT Pindad, Sigit Puji Santosa.
President Prabowo plans to hold a limited meeting today. The limited meeting is said to discuss plans for providing housing for residents living along railway tracks.
Maruarar Sirait explained that much state land is not being used for the people’s benefit and is instead controlled by other parties. “We will reclaim it for the state’s and people’s interests, especially for low-income communities as well as middle and lower-middle ones,” said Ara, as Maruarar Sirait is nicknamed, at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Monday afternoon, 6 April 2026.
He stated that the government, together with PT KAI, has directly surveyed several state lands in strategic locations, for example, in the Tanah Abang area, Central Jakarta, and Bandung, West Java. From the survey, the government found lands that can be utilised for people’s housing.
This Gerindra Party politician said the government is preparing a strategic plan, including the laying of the first stone or groundbreaking for a housing project in Bandung in the near future.
He continued that there are many strategic lands located along railway tracks. He also assured that those state lands will be used for the people’s benefit.
At the same location, Minister of Higher Education Brian Yuliarto expressed his readiness to support the people’s housing programme. “We are ready to back it up from the research and study side, including technology to make construction more efficient,” said Brian.
President Prabowo Subianto previously promised decent housing for residents living along the tracks in Senen, Central Jakarta. He conveyed this after visiting the area.
In a post on his Instagram account @Prabowo, the Head of State shared a video of his inspection visit to the area along the tracks in Kramat, Pasar Senen, Central Jakarta. “Insyaallah, we will soon build decent housing for the community in that area quickly, and it has become my determination to provide decent housing for the Indonesian people,” said this General Chairman of the Gerindra Party on Thursday, 26 March 2026.
