President to Discuss Energy Issues and Regional Stability at ASEAN Summit

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto will discuss energy issues and regional stability at the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines, on 7-8 May 2026.

According to the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom) in Jakarta on Thursday, the President will address strengthening collaboration among ASEAN member countries to maintain energy resilience and enhance coordination in responding to geopolitical dynamics during the meeting.

The President arrived in Cebu, Philippines, on Thursday at 1:48 p.m. local time. The Head of State and his entourage were welcomed with traditional dances and handshakes from several Philippine officials.

The 48th ASEAN Summit is scheduled to take place in Cebu on 7-8 May 2026 with the theme “Navigating Our Future Together”.

The President is also scheduled to attend one of the agendas of the 48th ASEAN Summit, namely the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit, which serves as a strategic forum to strengthen connectivity and economic cooperation in the ASEAN sub-region.

During the visit, Prabowo is scheduled to discuss strengthening cooperation among ASEAN countries, including efforts to address the evolving global dynamics at present.

The meeting of ASEAN leaders is also expected to strengthen regional collaboration in maintaining stability, economic growth, and strategic cooperation in various sectors.

Upon arriving at the hotel where he will stay in Cebu, President Prabowo was immediately welcomed by two Indonesian children wearing traditional attire, standing neatly while handing flowers to the Head of State.

Inside the hotel, several ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet, who had arrived in Cebu earlier, also greeted the President’s arrival.

Not only government officials, but Indonesian diaspora living in Cebu also appeared enthusiastic in directly welcoming President Prabowo. Some of them even had the opportunity to shake hands and have brief conversations with President Prabowo.
