Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto affirmed his readiness to confront resistance from groups engaged in illegal practices deemed to hinder national economic transformation and weaken the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

“We will face obstacles, we will face challenges, and perhaps we will also face resistance from groups who enjoy corruption, smuggling, and illegal economic activities,” President Prabowo said while serving as the Inspector of the Pancasila Birthday Commemoration at the Pancasila Building in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs complex in Jakarta on Monday.

The President stressed that these challenges and potential resistance likely come from anyone lacking patriotism.

According to the President, a great nation must have the courage to make the right decisions that serve the people’s interests, even if they are difficult to implement.

In his speech, President Prabowo underscored that the commitment to defend the people is part of the historical duty as the Eighth President of the Republic of Indonesia and a representative of the people. He rejected leaving behind short-term ease if it compromises future generations’ prospects.

Prabowo also identified that one structural weakness over recent decades has been an unequal economic growth model. This situation is exacerbated by the fact that the added value from Indonesia’s abundant natural resources is largely enjoyed abroad, while the public remains mere spectators.

To break the chain of national wealth leakage, Prabowo stated his government is pursuing an economic transformation based on Pancasila principles. Concrete strategies include a single-window export system for natural resources, significant investments in industrialisation based on downstreaming, and strengthening foreign exchange management.

President Prabowo believes that consistently applying Pancasila in politics, law, culture, and especially the economy will safeguard Indonesia from division threats.

The 81st anniversary of Pancasila’s birth carries the theme “Pancasila: National Unifier, Foundation of World Peace”.

The commemoration ceremony was attended by the fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia and Chair of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency, Megawati Soekarnoputri; the tenth Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla; the thirteenth Vice President, Ma’ruf Amin; and the fourteenth Vice President, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Additionally, the event was attended by various state officials, members of the Red and White Cabinet, TNI-Polri, community leaders, and students.
