President to attend Waisak celebration

JAKARTA: President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is set to attend
the celebration of Buddha's Day of Enlightenment, or Waisak, in
May at the Borobudur Temple, Central Java.

The Indonesian Buddhist Association (Walubi) chairwoman Siti
Hartati Murdaya said on Tuesday the president had confirmed his
presence at the celebration on May 24.

"The president will attend the celebration, not the ritual,"
she said after meeting with Susilo at the Presidential Office.

During the meeting with the President, Walubi representatives
gave a report of the organization's relief efforts in devastated
Aceh. -- JP
