Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto affirmed Indonesia’s position as an attractive and noteworthy investment destination for global business players. The Head of State made the remarks before American business leaders at a Business Summit held at the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC.

“We are very open to investment. We need investment and we want more investment. We are confident that we are competitive and attractive,” Prabowo said, as quoted by Antara on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

Before the group of US business leaders, President Prabowo stated that Indonesia possesses natural resources that are not only abundant but also strategically significant. However, the country’s investment appeal does not end there.

The President noted that Indonesia is currently accelerating its industrialisation drive, which is opening up new investment opportunities across various sectors.

“I believe we have strength in critical minerals. I have also received reports that Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest rare earth reserves in the world,” Prabowo said.

On the industrialisation front, President Prabowo said Indonesia is now focused on downstream processing of natural resources. He cited the example of the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Danantara, which will initiate 18 downstream processing projects this year, including a waste-to-energy project worth Rp50.4 trillion, equivalent to US$3 billion.

“We continue to move forward on industrial downstream processing, with Danantara serving as the main driving force. We are moving very quickly in these sectors,” Prabowo said.

On the basis of this potential, President Prabowo expressed his hope that US companies would view Indonesia not merely as an attractive investment destination but also as a primary production base.

The President also stressed the importance of seeing Indonesia as a strategic partner in Southeast Asia, given the scale of the national economy.

Indonesia remains committed to maintaining its investment climate through regulatory certainty, law enforcement, and good governance. According to the Head of State, these factors are key to attracting foreign investment interest.

“For business leaders, certainty is the most important thing. Nobody wants to invest in a situation or atmosphere filled with uncertainty, instability, or even chaos,” Prabowo said.
