President Summons Attorney General Over Febrie Adriansyah Corruption Case

President Prabowo Subianto summoned Attorney General ST Burhanuddin to a limited cabinet meeting on Saturday evening (11 July) to request a direct report on the corruption case involving former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah (FA).
Minister of State Secretariat and Presidential Spokesman, Prasetyo Hadi, confirmed that the Head of State requires a detailed explanation regarding developments in the case.
“Because there has been an incident, he (President Prabowo) naturally wants to receive a report,” said Prasetyo, as quoted by Antara on Wednesday (15 July).
Prasetyo emphasised that the government is committed to safeguarding national stability in handling the case. According to him, stability is an absolute prerequisite for economic development, and the government is therefore working to minimise any commotion that may arise from FA’s legal proceedings.
Beyond discussing the case’s progress, the presidential palace reported that it had received a letter proposing names for the new Jampidsus from the Attorney General on Tuesday (14 July). The letter is currently being processed as the basis for issuing a Presidential Decree (Keppres), targeted to be finalised this week.
One of the strongest names proposed to replace FA is Kuntadi, Head of the Attorney General’s Asset Recovery Agency. Prasetyo confirmed that Kuntadi’s name is on the shortlist alongside several others that were not disclosed.
For context, Febrie Adriansyah officially resigned from his post as Jampidsus in the early hours of Saturday (11 July). On the same day, he was named a suspect in an alleged corruption and money laundering case.
The presidential palace has received the proposed names for the new Jampidsus. Kuntadi is said to be a strong candidate to replace Febrie Adriansyah, who is implicated in a corruption case.
The Gerindra Party politician has expressed appreciation for the work of the National Police and the Attorney General’s Office so far.
Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) has urged the Attorney General to promptly propose a definitive candidate for Jampidsus to the palace in order to optimise investigations into large-scale corruption cases.
Attorney General ST Burhanuddin affirmed that the relationship between the Attorney General’s Office and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) remains solid and harmonious.
Listyo explained that this strategic partnership will not only be maintained at the central level, but will be instructed to be implemented in a linear fashion across the regions.
The letter circulated during the campaign quiet period and attributed the remarks to Prabowo as Chairman of the Gerindra Party, not as President of Indonesia.
