President Summons Attorney General Over Febrie Adriansyah Corruption Case

President Prabowo Subianto summoned Attorney General ST Burhanuddin for a restricted meeting on Saturday evening (11/7) to request a direct report on the alleged corruption case involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. Minister of State Secretary and Presidential Spokesperson Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that the Head of State required an in-depth explanation regarding the case’s progress. “Because there has been an incident, of course, he (President Prabowo) wants to receive a report,” Prasetyo said on Wednesday (15/7). Prasetyo stressed that the government is committed to maintaining national stability in handling this case. According to him, stability is an absolute prerequisite for economic development, so the government is trying to minimise any potential uproar that may arise from the legal process against FA. In addition to discussing the case developments, the Palace reported that it had received a letter from the Attorney General on Tuesday (14/7) proposing a name for the new Jampidsus. The letter is currently being processed as the basis for issuing a Presidential Decree, which is targeted for completion this week. One of the strongest candidates proposed to replace FA is the Head of the Attorney General’s Asset Recovery Agency, Kuntadi. Prasetyo confirmed that Kuntadi’s name is on the proposed list along with several other names that were not detailed.
