President summons Attorney General for report on FA case
Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto summoned Attorney General ST Burhanuddin in a limited meeting on Saturday evening (11/7) to obtain a report regarding the alleged corruption case implicating former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah (FA).
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, who also serves as Presidential Spokesperson, stated the meeting was held because the Head of State wanted to receive a direct explanation on the progress of the case. “Because there was an incident, of course, he (President Prabowo) wanted to get a report,” Prasetyo said when met at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
When asked whether the government wants the resolution of the FA case to proceed without causing a stir, Prasetyo said the government has an interest in maintaining national stability. On the same occasion, Prasetyo also conveyed that the Palace had received a letter from the Attorney General containing proposed names for a new Jampidsus to replace FA.
According to him, the letter was sent on Tuesday (14/7) and is currently being processed as the basis for issuing a presidential decree. Prasetyo confirmed that the Head of the Attorney General’s Office Asset Recovery Agency, Kuntadi, is one of the names proposed by the Attorney General, alongside several other names he did not specify.
Febrie Adriansyah resigned from his position as Jampidsus in the early hours of Saturday (11/7). On the same day, he was named a suspect in an alleged corruption and money laundering case.
