President States There Are 1,800 Level Crossings in Java, Requiring Rp 4 Trillion to Address Them

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The President of the Republic of Indonesia visited the victims of the KRL Commuter Line collision at Bekasi City Hospital on Tuesday morning (28/4/2026) WIB. The arrival of the Head of State was to directly see the victims of the KRL Commuter Line and Argo Bromo train collision at Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi City, West Java, on Monday night (27/4/2026) WIB.

The President was accompanied by the President Director of PT KAI Bobby Rasyidin and the Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi. The Mayor of Bekasi Tri Adhianto Tjahyono was also present. “In broad strokes, we have noted that many of these railway crossings are unguarded, and we will immediately address them,” the President told the media after visiting the victims.

According to the President, the Bekasi City Government has proposed the construction of a flyover at the level crossing site where the accident occurred. The accident location is near Bekasi Timur Station, on Monday night (27/4/2026) WIB.

“Because Bekasi is also densely populated, and the railway needs are very important and urgent, I have approved the construction of the flyover. Directly with presidential assistance,” the President stated.
