Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to personally greet citizens attending the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Saturday during the Eid al-Fitr 2026 celebration.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the President will tour the palace grounds to greet citizens who come to celebrate Lebaran.

“Insha’Allah, as he did last year, he will tour and greet the public who wish to attend the Eid al-Fitr celebration at Merdeka Palace,” Prasetyo said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Saturday.

He estimated that the number of attendees could reach around 4,000 to 5,000 people. The government is not imposing strict limits on visitors, instead providing an open opportunity for the public to attend voluntarily.

Prasetyo emphasised that the President’s decision to prioritise the public in this moment also aligns with the call for state officials to reduce open house activities at their respective institutions.

This step is taken considering the conditions faced by citizens in various regions who are still experiencing difficulties, so the government wants to present a simpler yet meaningful celebration.

“As we all know, many of our brothers and sisters in various regions are still facing hardships. Therefore, the President has chosen to prioritise the general public,” he said.

Prasetyo added that the open house event is not mandatory for high-ranking state officials from ministries or agencies.

According to him, the President does not want to burden officials who already have other agendas or activities on Eid.
