President Scheduled to Attend National Easter Celebration in Manado
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar stated that the National Easter Celebration 2026 will be held in Manado, North Sulawesi, and is planned to be attended by President Prabowo Subianto.
“The peak of the National Easter Celebration 2026 will take place in Manado, North Sulawesi. May it proceed smoothly and successfully. It is planned to be attended by President Prabowo Subianto,” said the Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar in his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The Minister hopes that the 2026 Easter celebration will be better than previous years. This National Easter Celebration 2026 is expected to blend moments of togetherness among people of different faiths.
“This year’s Easter celebration must be better than every previous year. All faiths can feel the celebration. This is a national event. The committee must be able to blend the activities well and carefully,” he said.
Committee Chairman Recky H. Langie conveyed that the National Easter 2026 in Manado, North Sulawesi, will take place from 7-9 April 2026.
Previously, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar invited religious figures to strengthen messages of peace, brotherhood, and harmony, considering that several major religious holidays will occur close together or even simultaneously this year, namely Nyepi Day, Eid al-Fitr, and Easter.
According to the Minister, the momentum of Nyepi Day, Eid al-Fitr, and Easter can become a shared space to strengthen values of brotherhood and harmony in the midst of Indonesia’s diverse society.
“Religious figures have an important role in maintaining harmony and peace in society. The momentum of these major religious days must become a reinforcer of brotherhood, not the opposite,” said the Minister.
The Minister explained that every religious celebration carries universal values that encourage a better social life. Nyepi teaches reflection and self-control, Eid al-Fitr emphasises the values of mutual forgiveness and strengthening brotherhood, while Easter brings messages of hope and love.
