President Putin Invited to Attend 49th ASEAN Summit in Manila

Moscow (ANTARA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has been invited to attend the ASEAN Summit in Manila this coming November by the Philippines, which holds the ASEAN chairmanship this year, stated the Philippine Ambassador to Russia, Igor Bailen. “As far as I remember, (the official invitation for Putin) was sent last year or early this year,” Ambassador Bailen told RIA Novosti. However, he noted that the Philippine side has not yet received a response to the invitation. “We are still awaiting a response from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Kremlin, and I hope Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin can visit our country,” the Philippine Ambassador said. The 49th ASEAN Summit is scheduled to take place in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, from 10–12 November 2026. The event will feature several agendas, including meetings with each ASEAN dialogue partner as well as the East Asia Summit (EAS), which brings together ASEAN leaders with their regional dialogue partners.
