President Proposes Revision to Citizenship Law for Dual Nationality

President of the Republic of Indonesia will submit a revision to the Citizenship Law to the House of Representatives (DPR). According to the head of state, the government will open up opportunities for limited dual citizenship, particularly for the diaspora abroad.

“The Indonesian government’s suggestion, our suggestion, is to allow dual citizenship for certain talents needed by the Indonesian nation,” the President said in the Government’s Introductory Speech on the 2027 Fiscal Year State Budget Bill along with the Financial Note at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Friday (14/8/2026).
