President Prepares Two Strategic Policies to Address Global Uncertainty
Indonesia is preparing at least two strategic policies to confront global uncertainties and the rise in global avtur prices. This was conveyed by the Head of State during a meeting with all members of the Merah Putih Cabinet up to echelon I at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta.
“President Prabowo conveyed two important policies amid global uncertainties and rising global avtur prices, namely regarding the reduction in Hajj costs and the evaluation of forest areas for mining,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in an official statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
Regarding this year’s Hajj organisation, Teddy assured that the government has confirmed that the Hajj cost per pilgrim this year will not increase and will even be reduced by around Rp2 million.
In addition, the government is also striving to accelerate the Hajj waiting queue, which starting this year is targeted to be a maximum of 26 years.
“Amid rising global avtur prices, President Prabowo has assured that the 2026 Hajj costs will not rise, and will even be reduced by around Rp2 million. The Hajj queue will no longer be 48 years; starting this year, the Hajj queue will be a maximum of 26 years,” he said.
Furthermore, as a response to the rise in global avtur prices that impacts flight tariffs, the government will also provide financing support for 220,000 affected prospective Hajj pilgrims amounting to Rp1.77 trillion.
The government will also soon realise the construction of the Indonesian Hajj Village in Mecca as part of improving services for pilgrims.
Regarding forest area protection, Teddy stated that President Prabowo has instructed the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia to conduct a thorough evaluation of Mining Business Permits (IUP).
“President Prabowo has ordered the Minister of ESDM to immediately evaluate existing IUPs in protected forest areas, conservation forests, national parks, and forest areas to be evaluated and returned to the state for those that violate,” he explained.
