President Prabowo's MPR Speech: Titiek Soeharto Wishes It Could Have Been Longer

Chair of House Commission IV Titiek Soeharto, commonly known as Titiek, remarked that President Prabowo appeared to read more from his text than improvise while delivering the State Address at the MPR Annual Session, held jointly with the DPR and DPD at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026).

The politician, familiarly called Titiek Soeharto, assessed that the limited time was the main reason President Prabowo delivered his speech in a structured manner from a text.

“It is because the time is limited, as it is Friday. People need to attend Jumatan prayers, so it is very limited. If possible, he would like to speak longer,” Titiek told journalists after attending the MPR Annual Session at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026).

Titiek appreciated the points on government performance achievements presented by President Prabowo, particularly in the food security sector. She expressed gratitude for the progress in achieving rice and maize self-sufficiency as conveyed by President Prabowo. According to her, the focus of House Commission IV together with the government going forward is to accelerate the achievement of self-reliance in other food commodities.

“There is much to be grateful for; all the achievements made by the government have been presented. For example, from my commission, rice and maize self-sufficiency. What we must pursue further is self-sufficiency in soybeans and garlic, as quickly as possible,” Titiek said.
