Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto summoned the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait, the Minister of Education, Higher Education, Research, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, and the President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia Bobby Rasidin to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday.

Maruarar, commonly known as Ara, stated that this limited meeting would, among other things, discuss the construction of housing near or along railway tracks.

According to her, the housing development for residents along the railway tracks covers areas including Tanah Abang, Bandung, and Medan.

“There are many places. In Tanah Abang, the state land is very strategic, in Bandung it is very strategic, in Medan it is very strategic. We are using it for the people’s interests and the state must be present,” said Ara at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta.

Ara mentioned that she had previously inspected the housing location in Tanah Abang, Jakarta. Additionally, this morning, she visited the housing location in Bandung together with the President Director of KAI.

According to her, there is a lot of state land that is currently controlled by irresponsible parties.

She emphasised that the state will reclaim that land. Therefore, synergy with various parties is needed to accelerate the provision of housing for low-income communities.

“There is a lot of state land controlled by other parties and we will take it back for the interests of the state and the people. Especially low-income communities and also middle and lower-middle communities. So that we can synergise quickly,” said Ara.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Higher Education, Research, and Technology Brian added that his side is ready to support the housing development along the railway tracks with various studies and research from a technological perspective to make it more efficient.
