President Prabowo Welcomed by Indonesian Students and Diaspora in Amman
Those who met the leader face-to-face greeted him warmly, saying, “Welcome back to Amman, Mr. President.”
After receiving a flower bouquet, President Prabowo shook hands with the gathered citizens and students, telling them, “Thank you. I hope you all stay healthy.”
The students, dressed in batik, waved small Indonesian flags as he passed.
During a brief meeting in the lobby, student representative Said Muhammad Aqil expressed the group’s excitement, noting that meeting the President in person is a rare honor.
“We told the President that we pray for his health and that we are very happy to meet him here in Jordan. In Indonesia, it is difficult for us to meet the President,” Aqil said after the welcoming event.
Said and his fellow students, Fadhil and Adil, are students at the University of Jordan, the country’s oldest and most prestigious public university.
“Moving forward, we hope the President will provide special attention to students and the diaspora abroad, giving us extra motivation to succeed in our studies through the support of the state,” Said added.
President Prabowo is in Amman to meet his longtime friend, King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on Wednesday. The visit is expected to include the signing of several cooperation agreements between Indonesia and Jordan.
The Garuda Indonesia aircraft (PK-GIF) carrying the delegation landed at Marka Royal Jordanian Air Force Base at 7:53 p.m. local time, following a flight from London.
As the plane entered Jordanian airspace, it was escorted by Royal Jordanian Air Force fighter jets.
Upon landing, the President was greeted by Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah al-Hashimi and several Jordanian government officials, Ambassador Ade Padmo Sarwono, and Defense Attaché Naval Colonel Dafris D. Syahruddin.
